Abstract

Bojonegoro possesses a rich variety of traditional arts and cultural heritage, including Wayang Thengul, Tari Thengul, Oklik, Sandur, Batik Jonegoroan, and the cultural values of the Samin community, all of which represent the region's local identity. However, the development of these traditional arts faces several challenges, such as the decreasing availability of spaces for artistic expression, the dominance of modern culture, the inconsistency of cultural event organization, and the lack of adequate facilities to support training, performances, education, and promotion. These conditions have hindered the preservation of traditional arts and the regeneration of artists and cultural practitioners. The design of the Bojonegoro Traditional Arts and Cultural Center is proposed as an integrated facility that accommodates various cultural activities, including exhibition galleries, studios and rehearsal spaces, workshops, an auditorium, an amphitheater, and communal spaces. The design process is based on site analysis, spatial requirements, literature review, and an understanding of the characteristics of Bojonegoro's traditional arts and culture. The design concept emphasizes the principles of contextual architecture, responsiveness to the tropical climate, and the integration of local cultural values into the building's form, spatial organization, and visual elements. This facility is expected to support the preservation, education, performance, and sustainable development of Bojonegoro's traditional arts and culture.
