Abstract
The increasing public interest in outdoor adventure activities has not been accompanied by adequate knowledge and safety skills, resulting in a higher risk of accidents. At the same time, the development of supporting facilities is expected to incorporate sustainability principles to minimize environmental impacts. In response to these issues, an Outdoor Adventure Center with Green Building Principles in Central Java is proposed as an integrated facility that accommodates adventure training, interactive education, safety simulations, outdoor equipment retail, and community spaces. The design applies the Issue-Based Programming method with a Green Architecture approach and incorporates the six assessment criteria of Greenship New Building established by the Green Building Council Indonesia (GBCI). The design theme, "Prepared Adventure: A Sustainable Journey," is combined with the Architecture as Adventure concept to create an exploratory, educational, and sustainable spatial experience. The proposed design covers a total building area of 13,975 m², consisting of land adventure training facilities, water adventure training facilities, interactive educational spaces, retail and restaurant areas, and an open public space serving as the central orientation point of the site. Performance evaluation using EDGE (Excellence in Design for Greater Efficiencies) demonstrates energy savings of 56.81%, water savings of 45.59%, and embodied material savings of 31.76% compared to the baseline building. Furthermore, the design achieved 80 out of 101 points (79.21%) in the Greenship New Building assessment, indicating its potential to achieve the Platinum certification level. Therefore, the proposed Outdoor Adventure Center is expected to enhance safety in outdoor adventure activities while serving as a model for the implementation of sustainable green building principles in Central Java. Keywords: Architecture as Adventure, Green Building, Greenship, Central Java, Outdoor Adventure Center.
