Abstract
Mental health disorders in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) have shown a significant increase from 2018 to 2024, while the availability of mental health services remains highly limited, with only one psychiatric hospital serving as the primary treatment center. This limitation has resulted in patient overcrowding and hindered the continuity of the recovery process, highlighting the need for a dedicated rehabilitation facility to complement the role of the existing psychiatric hospital in NTB. The proposed Mental Rehabilitation Center is intended to provide a more comprehensive recovery process by focusing on therapeutic interventions, life skills development, and the strengthening of psychological and emotional support as essential components of patients’ social reintegration. The Healing Environment approach is applied to create a therapeutic setting that supports the recovery process through the implementation of Healing Environment principles. Numerous studies have demonstrated that exposure to natural environments can reduce stress, enhance psychological well-being, and accelerate the healing process. By integrating rehabilitation functions with spaces designed to promote tranquility and well-being, this facility is expected to improve patients’ recovery outcomes, reduce the risk of relapse, and strengthen mental health services that support the sustainable restoration of patients’ well-being in Lombok.
