Abstract

The tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) is a high-value horticultural commodity with national productivity that can still be enhanced through fertilization and the use of plant growth regulators. This study aimed to examine the effects of KNO3 fertilizer dosage and paclobutrazol concentration as well as their interaction on tomato growth and yield. The research was conducted in Ngoro District, Mojokerto Regency, East Java, from November 2025 to February 2026, using a two-factor factorial Randomized Block Design. The first factor was the KNO3 dosage (control/NPK, 35, 40, and 45 g/plant), and the second factor was the paclobutrazol concentration (0, 100, 150, and 200 ppm); each treatment was replicated three times. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) followed by the Honestly Significant Difference (HSD) test at the 5% level. The results showed a significant interaction between the two factors only regarding flowering age and leaf count (at 35 and 63 days after planting/DAP); the combination of 35 g/plant KNO3 and 150 ppm paclobutrazol resulted in the earliest flowering age (27.00 days). Individually, 45 g/plant KNO3 yielded the highest total fruit weight (1,894.86 g/plant), while 40 g/plant KNO3 produced the highest number of flowers, total number of fruits, and fruit diameter. Paclobutrazol at 150 ppm produced the highest number of flowers (48.31 blossoms), whereas increasing the concentration to 200 ppm suppressed plant height. The fruit set percentage was not influenced by either factor. It is concluded that the application of 45 g/plant KNO3 and 150 ppm paclobutrazol can enhance tomato plant growth and yield.
