Abstract

This study aims to analyze the export competitiveness of Indonesian shrimp (HS 160529) in the Japanese market as measured by the Revealed Comparative Advantage (RCA) index, and to examine the influence of Indonesia’s GDP, the rupiah exchange rate, and Japan’s population in determining its technical efficiency. The research employs a descriptive quantitative method with Stochastic Frontier Analysis (SFA) using Stata MP 17 software, including simultaneous and partial hypothesis testing, frontier function feasibility testing, Likelihood Ratio (LR) testing, and technical efficiency testing. The secondary data used are annual time series data for the period 2015–2025 obtained from UN Comtrade. The results show that Indonesia’s GDP has a significant effect on export value. The rupiah exchange rate does not have a significant effect on export value. Meanwhile, Japan’s population has a significant effect on export value. The RCA index results indicate that throughout the study period, Indonesian shrimp (HS 160529) exports consistently demonstrate comparative advantage. The SFA results reveal that Indonesian shrimp exports operate at an efficient level during the study period, with no evidence of technical inefficiency. Keywords: Revealed Comparative Advantage, Technical Efficiency, Export, Competitiveness, International Trade.
