Abstract
This study aims to identify leading economic sectors and analyze their influence on economic growth in Gresik Regency. The methods used in this study include Location Quotient (LQ) analysis, Klassen Typology, and multiple linear regression with the assistance of EViews 12 and Microsoft Excel. The data used are secondary data in the form of Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) of Gresik Regency and East Java Province during the 2015–2025 period. The results of the LQ analysis indicate that there are three sectors classified as basic or leading sectors, namely the mining and quarrying sector, the manufacturing industry sector, and the electricity and gas supply sector. Based on the Klassen Typology analysis, there is one sector included in Quadrant I as an advanced and rapidly growing sector, fourteen sectors in Quadrant II as developing sectors, and two sectors in Quadrant III as advanced but depressed sectors. Meanwhile, no sector is included in Quadrant IV or the relatively underdeveloped sector category. The results of the multiple linear regression analysis show that the three leading sectors partially and simultaneously have a significant effect on economic growth in Gresik Regency. The Adjusted R-Squared value of 61.63% indicates that variations in economic growth can be explained by the variables in the study, while the remaining percentage is influenced by other factors outside the research model. Therefore, leading economic sectors have an important contribution in encouraging economic growth in Gresik Regency.
