Abstract
The Madiun Residency, as one of the significant agricultural centers in East Java, shows a relatively high level of food security. However, ongoing fluctuations in agricultural production, coupled with population growth pressures, pose potential risks to its long-term stability. This study aims to analyze the dynamics of food security and examine the effect of harvested area, rice productivity, and population on the food security index in the Madiun Residency from 2015 to 2024. This research employs a quantitative approach using secondary data in the form of time series data from 2015 to 2024, obtained from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) and the National Food Agency. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive analysis to examine the dynamics and stability of food security through trend analysis, growth analysis, and coefficient of variation, as well as panel data regression analysis to test the effect of harvested area, rice productivity, and population on the food security index. The results show that food security in the Madiun Residency fluctuates but tends to increase, with a relatively good level of stability. Simultaneously, harvested area, rice productivity, and population have a significant effect on food security. However, partially, harvested area and rice productivity do not have a significant effect, while population has a significant effect on food security in the Madiun Residency. Keywords: food security, harvested area, population, rice productivity
