Abstract

This research is a quantitative study that aims to analyze the influence of the role of agricultural extension workers and their performance on the competence of rice farmers in Pertapan Maduretno Village, Taman District, Sidoarjo Regency. The sampling technique used purposive sampling. The number of respondents was 104 rice farmers. The data analysis method was Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Square (SEM-PLS) with the help of SmartPLS 4.0 software. The results showed that the role of agricultural extension workers had a positive and significant effect on the competence of rice farmers with a t-statistic value of 9.123 > 1.96, p-values 0.000 < 0.05, and a path coefficient of 0.497. The performance of agricultural extension workers also had a positive and significant effect on the competence of rice farmers with a t-statistic value of 8.721 > 1.96, p-values 0.000 < 0.05, and a path coefficient of 0.464. The R-square value of 0.534 indicates that the variables of the role of agricultural extension workers and the performance of agricultural extension workers are able to explain farmer competence by 53.4%, while the remainder is influenced by other variables outside the study.
