Abstract
Weak village data governance makes it difficult for village governments to accurately map the needs of their residents, particularly for vulnerable groups of workers in the informal sector who are often not adequately recorded. This situation prompted the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) to launch the Desa Cantik (Desa Cinta Statistik) Program as an effort to strengthen villages’ capacity to manage and utilize data to support more targeted village development planning. This study aims to analyze the implementation of the Beautiful Village Program (Desa Cinta Statistik) in strengthening village data governance in Leran Village, Manyar Subdistrict, Gresik Regency. The method used is descriptive qualitative. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation, and then analyzed using an interactive data analysis model. The research findings indicate that, from a program perspective, the implementation which included statistical literacy training for 35 participants, the establishment of 9 statistical agents, and data collection based on the Regsosek (Socio-Economic Registration) proceeded in line with the village’s needs. From the perspective of the implementing organization, coordination between the Gresik BPS and the Leran Village Government was synergistic, resulting in a significant increase in the knowledge of village officials; however, limitations in human resources and time posed challenges. From the target group perspective, the data collection successfully identified 141 vulnerable workers, with social protection coverage increasing from 12% (2023) to 100% (2025), although the equitable distribution of benefits has not yet been fully achieved. This program demonstrates a positive alignment among the three aspects in supporting data-driven village development planning; however, it still requires strengthening in terms of outreach, data updating, and expanding the involvement of the target group.
