Abstract
Based on the Health Profile recorded by the Lumajang Regency Health Office in 2020, the number of suspected tuberculosis patients in Lumajang was 11,794, with 2,340 diagnosed cases, and 40 deaths due to tuberculosis. Meanwhile, 1,724 children under five developed pneumonia. In addition to tuberculosis and pneumonia, the COVID-19 pandemic also occurred in 2020. In Lumajang, there were 2,412 COVID-19 cases, with 198 deaths. The high prevalence of lung disease in Lumajang necessitates vigilant healthcare and a specialized healthcare facility, specifically a Pulmonary Hospital, to adequately care for and treat lung patients. The healing process for lung disease is lengthy and can be frustrating for patients. Therefore, the design of the Pulmonary Hospital in Lumajang was conceptualized using the Healing Environment approach for its environmental system. The healing environment concept is a design concept that creates a therapeutic environment that harmonizes the mind, body, and spirit, by combining natural elements, the human senses, and psychology to accelerate the healing process. Furthermore, the use of a healing environment stems from the fact that the site is located in a pristine environment, thus supporting the implementation of the healing environment approach.
