Abstract
The reduction in land for construction is an obstacle for building owners to increase their residential capacity. These limitations force the building to be made vertically in order to increase the capacity of the building. Vertical building planning also causes the building to be sensitive to earthquakes that can occur in the area, it is necessary to calculate the earthquake load on the building so as not to endanger the occupants of the building. The modifications made in this study were RSUD Dr. M. Soewandhie Surabaya, with the existing building having eight floors of a concrete structure. These modifications include adding a floor to the existing building using a two-story composite steel structure, reinforced with "X"-shaped bracing of the Concentric Braced Frame (CBF) type. The modification plan uses Performance Based Seismic Design (PBS) to match the structural performance of the hospital building. Based on the results of the research, the performance of the modified structure shows the level of performance of Damage Control (DC) for buildings in the X and Y directions with a total deviation ratio of 0.0142. The existing building can still withstand the load of the new structure with a permit deviation of 60 mm, because on the 9th floor or in the existing building the roof floor shows a deviation of 18,656 mm for the X axis of the building and 19,892 mm for the Y axis of the building.
