Abstract
The problem in this research is that the ability of persons with disabilities touse WhatsApp social media and interact virtually in the midst of limited visionis aunique case to be studied. This study aims to describe the use of WhatsApp social media by HWDI Surabaya City members as people with visual impairments insupporting communication. This research method uses a qualitative case studyapproach where the data collection process is carried out through interviews anddocumentation. The results of this study indicate that the use of WhatsApp social media by members of the Surabaya City HWDI as people with visual impairmentscan be used as a means to fight for rights and justice to get equal treatment andshare activities through the content of activities carried out by members of theSurabaya City HWDI. Communication is built by applying TalkBack technologythrough voice messages so that communication carried out both personally andingroups is ef ective.
