Abstract
PT PLN Nusantara Power UP Tanjung Awar-Awar is a power generation company that relies heavily on the availability of consumable goods to support smooth operations and maintenance. The main problem faced by the company is an inventory imbalance that causes stockouts of critical items such as gloves, earplugs, bolts, o-rings, and welding electrodes, which results in high total inventory costs. This study aims to determine the most accurate demand forecasting method and design an inventory control system using the Min-Max Stock method to minimize costs and the risk of stock shortages. The forecasting methods tested include Single Exponential Smoothing (SES), Moving Average (MA), and Weighted Moving Average (WMA), with the best method selected based on the lowest Error values (MAD, MSE, and MAPE). The results showed that the SES method is most suitable for gloves, the MA method for earplugs, while bolts, o-rings, and welding electrodes are more optimal using the WMA method with a MAPE value below 10%, indicating good forecasting accuracy. The application of the Min-Max Stock method resulted in more measurable control parameters, where the average ordering frequency became more efficient at 16-21 times per year compared to the company's method which reached 24 times per year. From a financial perspective, the Min-Max Stock method is able to significantly reduce total inventory costs. The total inventory cost, which was originally IDR 1,657,784,000 with the company's method, decreased to IDR 1,387,156,000, resulting in a saving of IDR 270,628,000 or approximately 16.32%. Thus, the integration of forecasting and the Min-Max Stock method is proven effective in improving warehouse management efficiency and maintaining operational sustainability at PT PLN Nusantara Power UP Tanjung Awar-Awar.
