Abstract

This study evaluates the operational efficiency of critical processing units, specifically the Pre-Neutralizer, Pre-Scrubber, and Granulator, within Department IIA at PT. Petrokimia Gresik. The primary objective is to optimize the compound fertilizer production process by examining material balances and analyzing key parameters, such as H2O mass losses within the Pre-Neutralizer tank. Utilizing empirical factory data and rigorous chemical engineering calculation methodologies, the performance and mass distribution across these continuous processing units were audited. The evaluative results reveal critical insights into chemical reaction stability, moisture control variations, and systemic inefficiencies that influence the overall granulate quality and yield. Based on these findings, specific technical recommendations and process adjustments are proposed to mitigate utility losses, stabilize moisture distributions, and significantly enhance the production system's resource efficiency.
