Abstract

This study analyzes the influence of education level (average years of schooling), open unemployment rate, and income inequality (Gini ratio) on poverty levels in Gresik Regency. The background of the study is based on the still high percentage of poor people (10.32% in 2024) even though Gresik is a trategic industrial center of East Java. The study uses secondary annual time series data for the period 2010- 2024 from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of Gresik Regency and East Java province, analyzed by multiple linear regression after testing the classical assumptions (normality, multicollinearity, heteroscedasticity, autocorrelation). The results show that education level has a significant negative effect on poverty, unemployment rate has a significant positive effect, while income inequality has a positive but insignificant effect. Simultaneously, the three variables explain 87.9% of the variation in poverty. This study emphasizes the need for policies to increase access to education, reduce structural unemployment, and equalize income distribution for effective poverty alleviation in Gresik Regency.
