Abstract

Stock Return is one of the key indicators considered by investors in evaluating a company’s performance and prospects. This study aims to empirically examine the effect of profitability, liquidity, and leverage on stock Returns in Basic Materials companies in the Metals & Materials subsector listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange. The population of this study consists of all Basic Materials companies in the Metals & Materials subsector listed on the IDX during the 2020–2024 period, totaling 36 companies. The sampling technique employed was purposive sampling based on specific criteria, resulting in 22 companies as research samples with a total of 110 observations. This study adopts a quantitative research approach using statistical data analysis methods. The results of the study indicate that profitability has a significant effect on stock Returns. Meanwhile, liquidity and leverage do not have a significant effect on stock Returns. These findings suggest that a company’s ability to generate profits is a primary factor considered by investors in determining stock Returns, whereas liquidity levels and capital structure do not directly influence stock Returns in the examined sector. Keywords: Profitability, Liquidity, Leverage, Stock Return.
