Abstract
Chrysanthemum (Chrysanthemum sp.) are high-value ornamental plants whose productivity depends on environmental conditions. Mutation using EMS can produce new chrysanthemum varieties that are more adaptable to high temperatures through in vitro propagation. This study aimed to determine the interaction between cytokinin type and concentration on the in vitro propagation of chrysanthemum planlets of the Maruta variety derived from EMS mutation. The experiment was conducted using a factorial RAL design consisting of two factors: cytokinin type (BAP and kinetin) and cytokinin concentration (0 ppm; 1.5 ppm; 2.5 ppm; and 3.5 ppm), carried out in two propagation stages. The results of the study showed a significant interaction between these two factors; the 1.5 ppm BAP combination yielded the best results for the number of shoots, while the 3.5 ppm kinetin combination was optimal for planlet height in the second multiplication stage. BAP alone was superior in promoting the number of shoots and leaves, whereas kinetin was more effective in stimulating planlet height growth. Concentrations of 1.5 ppm and 2.5 ppm were optimal for lateral organ growth, while 3.5 ppm was superior for vertical growth in both multiplication stages.
