Abstract
This plant design aims to design an acetanilide plant with a predetermined production capacity based on an analysis of market demand and raw material availability. Acetanilide is produced through the reaction between aniline and acetic acid, aided by a heating process in a reactor. The process selection was made by considering aspects of reaction conversion, energy efficiency, operational ease, and process economics. The production process stages include raw material preparation, synthesis reactions in the reactor, product purification through crystallization, separation using a centrifuge, drying using a rotary dryer, and packaging the final product. To support smooth operations, a utility system was also designed, including the provision of process water, steam, electricity, and a wastewater treatment system. The main equipment used includes a reactor, heat exchanger, crystallizer, centrifuge, and rotary dryer. The economic analysis indicates that this plant is feasible based on feasibility parameters such as Return on Investment (ROI), Payout Time (POT), and Break-Even Point (BEP), which are within the industry's profitable limits. By considering technical, economic, and occupational safety and health (K3) aspects, the design of this acetanilide factory is expected to be able to meet market needs and provide added value to the national chemical industry.
