Abstract
PT. Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk. (SIG) is one of the largest cement processing plants in Indonesia. Its main products are Portland Composite Cement (PPC), Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC) and special cement. The cement manufacturing process at SIG is carried out using the dry method. This dry process processes raw materials by heating at high temperatures in a rotary kiln. In general, the stages of cement manufacturing are: Preparation of raw materials originating from mining. Such as limestone, which then enters the crusher unit. Other main materials such as clay are ground to obtain small lumps. Then the limestone and clay along with other additional materials such as gypsum are burned to form clinker. The formed clinker is ground to obtain cement powder with a uniform size. After that, the cement enters the packaging unit. In industrial practice, mass balance calculations are carried out on the main tool, namely the rotary kiln. With the results of the rotary kiln mass balance of 483,423.45 kg with an output mass of 483,423.45 kg. From the results of the rotary kiln mass balance calculations, it was found that no mass was lost from the process, indicated by the incoming and outgoing mass balances having the same value.
