Abstract
Industrial development in Indonesia is very fast, causing various types of heavy metal waste. One of the metals found in river water is copper (Cu). Adsorption is an economical method for separation and purification to reduce metal ions in wastewater. Activated carbon is one of the adsorption media, many plants and wastes contain carbon. Kluwak shell is known to have the ability to adsorb metals because of the high carbon content and lignin content in the kluwak shell so that it is potential to be processed into activated carbon. This study aims to obtain a suitable isotherm model for the adsorption of copper metal ion equilibrium by Kluwak shell activated carbon. The results of this study indicate that the suitable equation model for the adsorption of heavy metal Cu with activated carbon from kluwak shell is langmuir isotherm. The resulting equation y = -52.084x + 1786.1 with a value of R² = 0.8726.
