Abstract
Universitas Pembangunan Nasional "Veteran" Jawa Timur considers the enhancement of students' competence crucial in facing challenges in the workforce. As a concrete step, the institution organizes Field Work Practice (Praktek Kerja Lapangan or PKL) as an integral part of its curriculum. The research focus in the PKL program is the implementation of knowledge in partner institutions and companies, particularly at Bangkit Academy, an institution that enables students to develop practical skills in the application of machine learning. PKL is aimed not only at enriching the technical aspects of students but also involves fostering spiritual aspects, attitudes, and early skills that characterize competent graduates in the field of machine learning. This program is part of the Internship and Certified Independent Study Program (Program Magang dan Studi Independen Bersertifikat or MSIB), conducted online, in accordance with the abilities and expertise of the students. Subsequently, as the culmination of this program, there is a final project where the author collaborates with participants from other learning paths such as cloud computing and mobile development to create the Alpha Learn application, applying all the materials that have been learned. This application aims to provide an integrated solution for the preparation needs of prospective Olympiad participants at the school level, with the hope of making a positive impact on the education sector. Alpha Learn is designed to address the uneven distribution of materials in the Indonesian education sector, especially in the preparation for the Olympiad, which tends to be centralized on the island of Java. In the implementation of the materials, machine learning is used to recommend subjects that need to be revisited. When users answer questions incorrectly, the program will process and search for similarities among questions. The closest vector value will serve as a reference recommendation, accompanied by a corresponding video link. This provides a personalized and effective learning experience. Thus, through this project, students not only enhance their technical skills but also generate innovative solutions to improve access and the quality of Olympiad preparation in schools across Indonesia. The Alpha Learn application is expected to provide a solution that meets the needs of schools, ranging from systematic and structured material access to structured exercises, tryouts, and personalized learning recommendations using machine learning technology.
