Abstract
This report discusses the design of a Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) for a tapioca flour industry at PT. X Jombang with a production capacity of 300 tons per day, aimed at treating wastewater to comply with the quality standards stipulated in Regulation of the Minister of Environment and Forestry of the Republic of Indonesia Number 5 of 2014. Tapioca industry wastewater is characterized by major pollutants such as BOD, COD, TSS, acidic pH, and high organic content, which pose potential environmental pollution risks if not properly treated. The treatment system design includes preliminary, primary, secondary, and sludge treatment units consisting of conveyance channels, bar screens, equalization tanks, coagulation–flocculation, sedimentation, activated sludge processes, clarifiers, and sludge drying beds. The design methodology involves analysis of wastewater characteristics, determination of treatment alternatives, mass balance calculations, detailed engineering design (DED), hydraulic profile analysis, and preparation of the Bill of Quantity (BOQ) and Cost Budget Plan. The proposed design is expected to produce effluent that is safe for discharge into the environment and to serve as a technical reference for effective and sustainable management of tapioca industry wastewater.
