Abstract
This study aims to analyze the political discourse of oligarchs in the podcast Bocor Alus Politik episode “Pertamina Case Analysis and Riza Chalid's Political Network” published through the YouTube channel Tempo.co using the Teun A. van Dijk Critical Discourse Analysis approach. This research focuses on the political discourse of oligarchs through digital media in Pertamina's corruption case in Indonesia. The method used is qualitative descriptive by analyzing three main dimensions, namely text structure, social cognition and social context. The results of the study show that the political discourse of the oligarchy is systematically constructed through a narrative that shows that Muhammad Riza Chalid is suspected as an oligarchic actor in the informal political economy sector that has a significant influence on national energy policy. The use of the terms and metaphors “Gasoline Godfather” and “substitution” serves as a symbol of criticism of the dominance of the economic elite and structural governance failures. These findings corroborate Jeffrey A. Winters' oligarchy theory of the typology of civil oligarchy and are in line with Michel Foucault's view of power working through networks of relationships and discursive practices. A new contribution from this research lies in the use of journalistic podcasts as the object of study of Critical Discourse Analysis to uncover the practices of energy oligarchy, as well as show how digital media functions as an arena for the production, reproduction and resistance of oligarchic political discourse. This research confirms that the digital space not only shapes public opinion, but also plays a role in increasing public critical awareness of the relationship between the media, power and oligarchy politics in Indonesia. Keywords: Critical Discourse Analysis, Political Oligarchy, Riza Chalid, Podcast, Pertamina.
