Abstract

Melon (Cucumis melo L.) is a high-value annual horticultural crop with a fresh taste. This study aims to determine the best combination of planting media composition and Gandasil B foliar fertilizer concentration for melon growth and yield. This study is a factorial experiment designed using a completely randomized design (CRD) with two factors. The composition of the planting medium as the first factor consisted of 4 levels, namely: soil composition: goat manure: charcoal husk with a ratio of v:v:v (1:1:1), (2:1:1), (1:2:1), and (1:1:2). The concentration of Gandasil B foliar fertilizer as the second factor consisted of 4 levels, namely: 0, 5, 7, and 9 g/L. The results showed that the growing medium composition of soil : goat manure : charcoal husk (1:1:2) and Gandasil B foliar fertilizer concentration of 7 g/L was the best treatment combination for the edible portion parameter. The highest fruit weight and sugar content were produced by the treatment with Gandasil B foliar fertilizer concentrations of 6.56 g/L and 7.92 g/L, respectively.
