Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of the Human Development Index (HDI), Economic Growth, and Labor Force on the Poverty Rate in Sumenep Regency. The data used are secondary data obtained from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) of Sumenep Regency and East Java Province for the period 2012–2023. The analysis method employed is Multiple Linear Regression using SPSS version 24. The results of the classical assumption tests indicate that the regression model meets the criteria of normality and is free from multicollinearity, heteroscedasticity, and autocorrelation, thereby confirming the model’s reliability. The findings reveal that the Human Development Index (HDI) has a negative and significant effect on the poverty rate, Economic Growth has an insignificant effect, and the Labor Force has a positive and significant effect on the poverty rate. The coefficient of determination (R²) of 95.1% demonstrates that the model has a very high explanatory power, meaning that 95.1% of variations in the poverty rate can be explained by HDI, Economic Growth, and Labor Force collectively, while the remaining 4.9% is influenced by other factors outside the model. These results indicate that the regression model is strong, valid, and accurately reflects the empirical conditions in Sumenep Regency
