Abstract

This study aimed to characterize pesticide compounds in garlic extract nanoparticles (Allium sativum L.) and test their mortality effectiveness against armyworm (Spodoptera litura F.) in laboratory through nanoparticle synthesis using ionic gelation method with chitosan-TPP, characterized using PSA, SEM, FT-IR, and GC-MS, which results showed particle size of 930.52 nm with homogeneous distribution (PDI 0.147) and identified main bioactive organosulfur compounds including diallyl disulfide (20.72%), diallyl trisulfide (14.16%), and diallyl tetrasulfide (5.79%), while bioactivity testing using leaf dipping method at five concentration variations (0-1%) showed highest mortality of 70% at 1% concentration with LC50 1.116%, LC90 1.720%, LT50 5.117 days, and LT90 9.893 days and significant differences (p<0.05) between treatments and control, thus concluding that garlic extract nanoparticles have potential as effective nano-bioinsecticides with dose-dependent and time-dependent toxicity properties.
