Abstract
Praktik Kerja Lapang (PKL) at Production Department 1B PT. Petrokimia Gresik focuses on the production processes of ammonia and urea. The ammonia production process begins with steam reforming to generate synthesis gas, followed by shift conversion, CO₂ removal, methanation, and ammonia synthesis in a high-pressure reactor. The resulting ammonia is then utilized as the main raw material in the urea production process, which involves the reaction between ammonia and carbon dioxide to form ammonium carbamate, followed by carbamate decomposition to urea, separation, and a prilling or granulation stage to produce solid urea. In addition to the main production processes, Utility Unit 1B provides essential supporting services such as water, steam, electricity, compressed air, and cooling systems to ensure the smooth operation of all production departments at PT Petrokimia Gresik. In addition to studying the process, also carried out a technical evaluation involving the analysis of synthesis pressure reduction and its effect on the discharge pressure of the Ammonia Pump, Carbamate Pump, CO₂ Compressor, and Turbine from ACES 21 to ACES 21 LP as an effort to improve operational efficiency in Urea Production 1B.
