Abstract
A Sulfamate Acid Plant from Urea and Oleum will be established in the JIIPE Industrial Area, Gresik. The main raw materials are Oleum (H₂SO₄·SO₃) and Urea (CO(NH₂)₂). The Sulfamate Acid production process consists of three stages. The first stage is the pre-treatment of raw materials, where Oleum is heated to 60°C to match the reactor’s operating temperature. The second stage is sulfonation process between Oleum and Urea, producing Sulfamate Acid and Carbon Dioxide (CO₂). The CO₂ gas is immediately separated into a storage tank for subsequent sale to third parties. This reaction process achieves a conversion rate of 90%. The third stage is purification, where crude Sulfamate Acid from the reactor is transferred to a crystallizer using sodium sulfate as a solvent, separated by a centrifuge, and dissolved again in a dissolving tank. The solution undergoes recrystallization using ethanol to enhance purity and is again separated via centrifuge. The resulting solid product is dried using a rotary dryer, cooled with a cooling conveyor, and finally transported to a silo for storage and packaging. The plant’s electricity will be supplied by PLN and a generator set, while water will be sourced from the nearby Bengawan Solo River. The plant will operate under a limited liability company (PT) structure, employing a line-and-staff organization system. The facility is designed for continuous operation with a production schedule of 330 days per year.
