Abstract

This internship report discusses the practical work experience conducted at PT Ajinomoto Indonesia-Mojokerto Factory, specifically in the Waste Water Treatment (WWT) Section, from September 1 to September 27, 2024. The main objective of this program is to observe and analyze wastewater treatment processes implemented in the factory and to apply the chemical engineering knowledge acquired during academic studies. PT Ajinomoto Indonesia operates a comprehensive wastewater treatment system consisting of biodenitrification units and a Sewage Treatment Process (STP), which function to ensure that wastewater meets environmental quality standards before being discharged into the Brantas River. During the internship, various aspects of wastewater treatment operations were examined, including influent characterization, biological and membrane-based treatment processes, chemical dosing, quality control, etc. A special task was also conducted, focusing on “Modifikasi Desain Sewage Treatment Process (STP) pada Pengolahan Light Waste untuk Peningkatan Efektivitas Penurunan Kadar Total Nitrogen (TN).” This task involved analyzing the current STP performance, identifying limitations in nitrogen removal efficiency, evaluating operational parameters, and proposing design modifications to optimize Total Nitrogen (TN) reduction.
