Abstract
This internship was conducted at PT. Panca Indah Jayamahe with a focus on weld joint quality inspection using the Non-Destructive Test (NDT) method, specifically Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT). The primary objective was to identify types of defects in pipe joints and assess their compliance with the acceptance standards of ASME Section V, Article 6. The testing procedure consisted of surface cleaning, penetrant application, removal of excess penetrant, developer application, and result interpretation. Inspection results revealed surface defects in the form of rounded indications classified as porosity. Several samples failed to meet the acceptance limits because the defect size exceeded 5 mm, requiring repair through grinding and rewelding processes. The remaining samples were compliant with the standards, and one sample was declared defect-free.
