Abstract

Saving behavior is part of financial behavior that describes the extent to which a person is able to plan, manage, and use their income effectively. Saving behavior among students is an important issue because students are in the early stages of transition to financial independence, often without a steady income but prone to impulsive spending. The population in this study consisted of active students of the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) from four state universities in Surabaya, namely UPN ‘Veteran’ Jatim, UNAIR, UINSA, and UNESA, as well as students majoring in Business Management at ITS, with a total of 19,934 students. The sample in this study was obtained by applying probability sampling, stratified random sampling, with a result of 258 samples taken. Data collection was conducted through the distribution of questionnaires and data analysis using smartPLS. The results of the study indicate that Financial Literacy and Peers are able to contribute to Saving Behavior. Furthermore, Self Control is able to mediate the influence of Financial Literacy and Peers on Saving Behavior. Keywords: Financial Literacy, Peers, Saving Behavior, Self Control
