Abstract

Based on analysis at the Sidotopo Locomotive Depot Maintenance Area, the unknown failure rate of locomotive components makes it difficult for technicians to predict damage and plan spare parts inventory. As a manifestation of concern for occupational safety at the Sidotopo Locomotive Depot, failure identification and risk assessment were conducted using the Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) method. This FMEA method generates a Risk Priority Number (RPN), which is used as a variable to help determine the priority of failure risks for the CC 206 locomotive diesel engine. Furthermore, due to the unknown failure rate of the CC 206 locomotive diesel engine and the unplanned availability of spare parts supporting the maintenance system, failure analysis and availability are essential for determining maintenance intervals, planning, and organizing maintenance. Maintenance is an activity carried out to ensure that damaged components or systems are restored or repaired to a specific condition within a specific period. Maintenance activities are aimed at ensuring that the physical assets owned can continue to fulfill the user's desires regarding the functions performed by the asset.
