Abstract

Domestic wastewater management requires the selection of appropriate treatment technologies that are effective, efficient, and aligned with site-specific conditions. This study aims to develop a Technology Matrix for Domestic Wastewater Treatment based on the essential aspects needed for the creation of a Decision Support System (DSS) application. The research identifies and evaluates key parameters—including technical performance, environmental impact, operational requirements, cost considerations, land availability, and level of community acceptance—to structure a comprehensive and user-oriented technology matrix. Data were collected through literature review, regulatory analysis, and comparison of existing wastewater treatment systems commonly applied in urban areas. The resulting matrix serves as a foundational component for DSS development, enabling users to systematically compare treatment alternatives and select the most suitable technology based on predetermined criteria. This study contributes to improving decision-making processes in wastewater management by providing a structured, transparent, and adaptable framework for integrating technology options into a DSS application.
