Abstract
Meritjan Sugar Mill is one of the production units under PT Sinergi Gula Nusantara engaged in processing sugarcane into white crystal sugar. One of the essential facilities in the production process is the boiler, which generates steam to support plant operations. This study aims to analyze the efficiency of the Cheng-Chen boiler with a capacity of 30 tons per hour using the direct method. This method evaluates the ratio between useful heat absorbed to produce steam and the heat supplied from fuel combustion. Operational data collected include fuel consumption, steam pressure, temperature, and steam flow rate. Based on the calculation during the observation period, the average boiler efficiency indicates that performance can still be improved through combustion optimization and fuel quality control. This study is expected to serve as a reference for improving energy efficiency and operational performance at Meritjan Sugar Mill.
