Abstract
The internship conducted in Department 1A of the Urea Plant at PT. Petrokimia Gresik aimed to evaluate the effect of ammonia outlet conditions in the stripper on scale formation within the concentration area. Observations indicated that excessive ammonia content in the stripper outlet stream led to the carry-over of ammonium carbamate, which subsequently deposited on equipment surfaces due to variations in temperature and pressure, thereby reducing heat transfer efficiency. This evaluation highlights the importance of controlling key operational parameters of the stripper such as pressure, steam flow rate, and the NH₃/CO₂ ratio to minimize scale formation and maintain optimal performance of the concentration unit.
