Abstract

This study analyzes the factors influencing food availability in Central Java Province using a panel data regression approach with a dummy variable. The independent variables in this research consist of rice production, fertilizer subsidies, rainfall, rice prices, and a dummy variable for major rice-producing regions, while the dependent variable is food availability measured by the Food Availability Index. The results show that rice production, fertilizer subsidies, and the rice-producing region dummy have a positive and significant effect on food availability. Meanwhile, rainfall has no significant effect on food availability, and rice prices have a negative and significant effect on food availability. Overall, these findings indicate that economic, environmental, and regional characteristics collectively influence food availability in Central Java. Therefore, government policies need to prioritize improving productivity, stabilizing prices, and ensuring equitable agricultural support to achieve sustainable food security. Keywords: food availability, rice production, fertilizer subsidies, rainfall, rice prices.
