Abstract

Indonesia is facing an increase in the elderly population vulnerable to health and socio-economic problems. In Gunungsari Sub-district, Surabaya, the elderly have not optimally utilized local resources such as turmeric. This empowerment activity was conducted by Group 08 of the KKN SDGs UPN “Veteran” East Java through the introduction of turmeric latte as a healthy and marketable product. Using a participatory approach, the activity increased elderly knowledge of turmeric’s health benefits. Organoleptic tests showed positive acceptance in terms of taste, aroma, color, and texture. This program supports the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal SDGs 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth and opens opportunities to utilize local resources as creative economic products.
