Abstract
This study examines the communication patterns of Indonesian Valorant game players, focusing on how they interact with other game players through virtual features available in the game and outside the game. The background of this research is the increasing popularity of video games, especially Valorant. Valorant games create a dynamic and adaptive communication environment, influenced by the competitive and multicultural context of the game where players must interact to achieve a common goal in the game. This study aims to describe the communication patterns that form among Valorant players. This research is a research on constructivism paradigm using a qualitative descriptive approach. Data is collected through observations, in-depth interviews with active Valorant players, and documentation. Data analysis is carried out by identifying and categorizing the various forms of communication that occur in the game using the Miles and Huberman data analysis techniques. The results of the study showed that Valorant game players used primary, secondary, circular, and group communication patterns. There is also the use of specific languages and codes in the game. In addition, from communication patterns, researchers also identified a link with communication accommodation accompanied by social identity, where players adjusted their communication style. It was found that there was a convergence behavior and convergence of negative responses. Keywords: Communication Patterns, Valorant, Game Players, Virtual Features
