Abstract
This report summarizes the internship activities at PT. Sinergi Gula Nusantara – PG Ngadiredjo, Kediri, conducted from September 1 to 30, 2024. The program aimed to provide students with practical knowledge of the industrial sugar production process and its supporting systems. Observations were carried out at the main production stages, including preparation, milling, purification, evaporation, cooking, centrifugation, and finishing. A special task was assigned on the mass and energy balance of the evaporation station, which is essential in concentrating sugar juice to the required brix level. The calculations involved material flow analysis, steam consumption evaluation, and energy efficiency assessment. The results emphasized the importance of proper steam distribution and vacuum operation to minimize energy losses and improve process performance. Additional discussions include laboratory analysis, quality control, utilities, occupational health and safety, and waste treatment. Overall, the internship enhanced students’ technical competence and problem-solving skills, while providing valuable insights into the operational and managerial aspects of sugar manufacturing.
