Abstract

The demand for Monopotassium phosphate in Indonesia is met through imports from abroad, as there are currently no Monopotassium phosphate factories in Indonesia. A Monopotassium phosphate factory is planned to be established in 2028 with a capacity of 30,000 tons/year in the Kujang Cikampek Industrial Area, Karawang, West Java. The factory will be operated for 330 days a year with a workforce of 154 people. The production of Monopotassium phosphate (MKP) is carried out by reacting Potassium Chloride and Phosphoric Acid in a reactor. The reactor operates under atmospheric pressure and at a temperature of 265˚C for 1 hour, and the reaction occurs endothermically. The byproduct of the reaction is hydrochloric acid in gas form. The economic analysis results from this preliminary plant design indicate that the Rate of Investment (before tax) is 35.83%, the Rate of Investment (after tax) is 26.87%, the Payback Period (PBP) is 3 years and 5 months, the Internal Rate of Return (IRR) is 23.16%, and the Break Even Point (BEP) is 34.45%. Therefore, it can be concluded that this MKP factory is feasible to establish.
