Abstract

This research investigates the application of inorganic–organic eutectic Phase Change Materials (PCMs) to enhance the thermal efficiency of coolboxes used for cold storage and transportation. PCM functions as a thermal energy storage medium that absorbs and releases latent heat during the phase transition process, thereby maintaining temperature stability within the system. The combination of inorganic and organic eutectic materials is designed to optimize thermal performance by utilizing the high latent heat capacity of inorganic components and the thermal stability and reduced supercooling of organic components. Experimental results show that coolboxes equipped with eutectic PCMs are able to sustain lower and more stable temperatures for longer periods compared to conventional ice-based cooling systems. This improvement contributes to reducing temperature fluctuations, extending cooling duration, and ensuring better preservation of temperature-sensitive products. The findings demonstrate that eutectic PCM integration is a promising approach to improve the efficiency and reliability of portable cooling systems
