Abstract

Indonesia, as a country where the majority of its population is Muslim, naturally adopts Islamic teachings as a guide for life in various aspects of human existence, whether social, economic, or personal. Since Islamic teachings are considered important, many people are eager to instill Islamic values in their children from an early age, hoping that these children will grow into individuals with good character who are beneficial to their surroundings. To instill these Islamic values, many parents enroll their children in religious-based schools, such as Islamic schools. Semarang City is known to have quite a number of Islamic-based educational facilities across all levels of education. However, several school buildings often fail to pay attention to provisions that align with the concept of khalifah (stewardship) found in the Qur'an, which emphasizes that humans have a great responsibility to maintain world balance and manage resources fairly and wisely, in accordance with Allah's commands. The design concept refers to the theme "Eco-Friendly Learning Through Faith-based Education." This theme means a concept of education that integrates environmentally friendly learning through a faith-based approach where Islamic religious values serve as the foundation for shaping environmental awareness and caring behavior. This design uses the Eco-Friendly Architecture approach. With the design of an Islamic Boarding School in Semarang City using the Eco-Friendly Architecture approach, it is hoped that it can become a modern Islamic educational facility building that continues to preserve and contribute to environmental conservation, which aligns with the concept of khalifah found in the Qur'an.
