Abstract
This study empirically examines the effect of fiscal policy on economic growth in East Java Province during the period 2018–2024. The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of local taxes, subsidy spending, and changes in the Value Added Tax (VAT) rate on the regional economic growth rate. The research method used is a quantitative approach with multiple linear regression analysis, including dummy variables to capture the impact of the VAT increase from 10% to 11% in 2022. The results show that local taxes and VAT dummy variables have a significant effect on economic growth, while subsidy spending is not statistically significant. The coefficient of determination (R²) of 96.5% indicates that the model is able to explain most of the variation in economic growth. These findings imply that tax revenue optimization and evaluation of VAT policies need to be aligned with inclusive and sustainable regional economic growth strategies. This study is relevant for regional policymakers in designing effective fiscal instruments.
