Abstract

Rice imports are a critical issue for Indonesia's food security, particularly when domestic production is insufficient to meet national needs. This study analyzes the factors influencing rice imports in Indonesia from 1999 to 2023 using multiple linear regression with secondary data from Statistics Indonesia (BPS), the Ministry of Agriculture, and the FAO. The independent variables are production, consumption, domestic prices, international prices, and harvested land area. The analysis shows that production, consumption, domestic prices, and land area significantly influence imports, while international prices are insignificant despite having a positive relationship. The R² value of 46.2% indicates that the variation in imports is explained by these five variables. These findings emphasize the importance of strengthening production, land protection, and stabilizing domestic prices to reduce dependence on imports.
