Abstract

Eggplant (Solanum melongena L.) is an important horticultural commodity with high economic value that is widely cultivated in various regions due to its increasing demand. This study aims to determine the effect of gibberellin (GA3) concentration and several eggplant varieties on eggplant growth and yield. This study employed a Completely Randomized Design (CRD), consisting of two factors and three replications. The first factor was gibberellin concentration (0, 100, 200, and 300 ppm). The second factor was eggplant variety type, namely Hitavi, Mustang, Pulus, and Teho 555 varieties. The results showed a significant interaction between the combination of gibberellin concentration and eggplant variety on the time of first flower emergence, fruit weight during harvest periods 2 to 4, and total fruit weight. The treatment with a gibberellin concentration of 200 ppm had the best effect on plant height, number of leaves, number of flowers, number of harvested fruits from periods 1 to 5, fruit weight in periods 1 and 5, total number of harvested fruits, and fruit set. The Teho 555 eggplant variety had the best effect on plant height and number of leaves. The Mustang variety had the best effect on stem diameter. The Hitavi variety had the best effect on leaf size, number of flowers, number of harvested fruits from periods 1 to 5, fruit weight in periods 1 and 5, total number of harvested fruits, and fruit set.
