Abstract

This research aims to analyze the influence of Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) Per Capita, Unemployment, Dependency Ratio, and Education on Income Disparities in 14 Provinces in Indonesia during the 2012-2022 period. Even though the Gini ratio trend has shown a decline since 2012-2022, the achievement of this figure still does not meet the target set in the 2020-2024 RPJMN, meaning that income disparity is still a quite crucial problem in Indonesia. The approach used in this research is a quantitative approach with panel data regression analysis method which applies the Fixed Effect Model as the best model. The data used in this research is secondary data obtained from the Central Statistics Agency and the World Bank. The results of this research indicate that unemployment and education do not have a significant effect on income disparities in Indonesia. Meanwhile, Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) Per Capita has a negative and significant effect on income disparities in Indonesia, while the Dependency Ratio has a positive and significant effect on income disparities in Indonesia. However, simultaneously all variables influence income disparities in Indonesia. This condition shows that appropriate government policies are needed to reduce income disparities in Indonesia by increasing the GDP per capita evenly and reducing the dependency ratio by improving the quality of the productive age population.
