Abstract

A high Human Development Index (HDI) score indicates that the government is making human-centered development investments aimed at boosting productivity. A country with a high HDI score can be categorized as having a near-optimal quality of human resources. According to the UNDP, the HDI is based on three fundamental dimensions: long and healthy life, knowledge, and a decent standard of living.This study employs multiple linear regression analysis to examine the influence of government expenditure in the education sector, government expenditure in the health sector, and economic growth on the HDI. Additionally, the researcher conducted classical assumption tests using time series analysis methods.The conclusion drawn from this study is that the education sector has a significant influence on the HDI, while government expenditure in the health sector does not have a significant effect. Furthermore, the economic growth variable has a negative impact on the HDI in East Java Province.
