Abstract
Strawberry (Fragaria x ananassa Duch) is a high economic value fruit commodity generally cultivated in highlands. Strawberry cultivation in lowlands faces constraints from suboptimal environmental conditions, making the hydroponic Dutch Bucket system a promising alternative solution. This study aims to determine the effect of AB Mix concentration and growing media composition on the growth and yield of strawberry plants hydroponically. The research was conducted in Surabaya at an altitude of 5 meters above sea level. The study employed a Split Plot Design with two factors. The first factor as the main plot was AB Mix concentration (K) consisting of 3 levels: K₁ (1000 ppm), K₂ (1200 ppm), and K₃ (1400 ppm). The second factor as the subplot was growing media composition (M) consisting of 3 levels: M₁ (100% Hydroton), M₂ (Rice Husk Charcoal : Cocopeat = 1:1), and M₃ (Hydroton : Rice Husk Charcoal : Cocopeat = 1:1:1). The research results showed that there was a significant interaction between AB Mix concentration and growing media composition on plant height parameters (4-12 weeks after planting), number of leaves (8 weeks after planting), fruit diameter, fruit length, and fruit volume. The treatment combination K₃M₃ (AB Mix 1400 ppm with Hydroton : Rice Husk Charcoal : Cocopeat media) provided the best results for most of the tested parameters. AB Mix concentration of 1400 ppm (K₃) gave the best effect on leaf number and accelerated flowering time to 34.81 days after planting. The mixed media of Hydroton : Rice Husk Charcoal : Cocopeat (M₃) consistently provided the best results with fruit weight per plant reaching 55.33 grams, an increase of 28.4% compared to single hydroton media.
