Abstract
Aglaonema 'Lady Valentine' is one of the popular ornamental plant varieties because of its attractive color and leaf pattern and high selling value. However, the limitation of superior seeds is an obstacle in meeting market demand. Tissue culture (in vitro) and acclimatization (ex vitro) techniques are the solution to plant propagation, although they still have obstacles such as low bud multiplication rates and slow growth. Therefore, this study aims to examine the effect of the combination of hydroponic nutrients AB Mix and silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) on the growth of Aglaonema plantlets in vitro and ex vitro. The study used a two-factor factorial Complete Random Design (RAL) with four concentration levels of AB Mix and AgNPs, each repeated three times. Data were analyzed using ANOVA, followed by 5% BNJ test, in vitro culture condition scoring, ex vitro viability percentage, and correlation analysis between parameters. The results showed that the combination of treatments did not provide a significant interaction with growth parameters, either at the in vitro or ex vitro stages. However, the combination of 2 ml/L AB Mix and 3 ppm AgNPs provides the best response to plantlet growth in vitro, with increased plant height, root volume, and healthy morphological conditions. At the ex vitro stage, the combination of 1–2 ml/L AB Mix and 0.5–1 ppm AgNPs showed high effectiveness in improving plant height parameters, leaf count, and leaf quality. Thus, the use of a combination of AB Mix and AgNPs may be a potential approach to improve the propagation efficiency of Aglaonema 'Lady Valentine' by micropropagation, although it does not show a statistically significant interaction.
