Abstract
The Calcium Chloride Plant was established to meet rising domestic needs and reduce dependence on imports. Calcium Chloride is widely used, as a drying agent, anti-freezing, and additive to add to the durability of the material. The raw materials used are calcium carbonate, hydrochloric acid, and calcium hydroxide, while the manufacturing process uses the acidification process. The factory capacity is set at 60,000 tons/year, and the factory will be established in JIIPE Gresik Regency, East Java was chosen as the factory location because it is close to the source of raw materials, utilities are available, and complete infrastructure is available. This Calcium Chloride plant uses an Acidification Process. In this process calcium carbonate is reacted with hydrochloric acid. The reaction occurs in a stirring tank reactor (CSTR) at a temperature of about 50°C and a pressure of 1 atm. The reaction product produces excess HCl so it is necessary to add Calcium Hydroxide to neutralize. The addition of Calcium Hydroxide, produces a by-product in the form of magnesium hydroxide cake so that separation is required. The process is followed by the saturation of the solution in the evaporator and the formation of crystals in the crystallizer. The Calcium Chloride crystals are then dried to be uniformized in size and the packaging process is carried out. The process is chosen because it can provide the greatest yield. The provisions for the establishment of a planned nitric acid plant can be concluded as follows: 1. Production Capacity : 60,000 tons/year 2. Company Form : Limited Liability Company (PT) 3. Organizational System : Lines and Staff 4. Number of Employees : 154 people 5. Operating Time : 330 days/year; 24 hours/day 6.
